When creating events in your app, there are two methods to choose from. The first is to manually build out events for your Calendar folder in your app. The other is to use an iCal feed from a preexisting calendar.
How do I maintain a calendar with an iCal feed?
An iCal feed is a standard calendar feed structure that allows you to get events from an online calendar fed into your app each day (1x per day). This is a good choice if you host your calendar on Google Calendar or a website CMS that creates an iCal Feed and don't have the resources available to manage inputting events as they come up.
An iCal can include these properties for each event:
- Start & End Time
- Location (typically a Room number)

How do I include an iCal feed in my app?
Though you will see an iCal draggable as you're setting up your app, we recommend having us set up the feed for you. This ensures the link is formatted correctly. Send the link to your Custome Success Manager if you're doing the initial setup of your app. If you already have a launched app, send your iCal feed link to email@example.com

How do I maintain a calendar manually?
Maintaining a calendar manually means creating an item for each event in the Mobile App studio one at a time. This is a great choice if you want to add photos, registration links and different types of info depending on the individual event.
Step 1: Drag the Events container from the right panel and drop it into the editable area.
Enter the container by clicking in the white space anywhere to the right of the Events container.
Step 2: Drag and drop an Event item onto the events container.
Step 3: Add properties to the item:
Add appropriate properties to your event item. This can be anything you feel is appropriate. Some common event properties are an image, email, phone, rich text (description), and an address.
What are the benefits of manually creating events?
The biggest benefit in the manual creation of events is customization. Creating an event manually gives you the freedom to add content that isn't available through a feed such as images, directions, and contact properties for the event coordinator.
Things to Remember:
- There are pros to both strategies of event creation. Contact your CSM to discuss which option may be best for you, and what your package includes. To add an iCal link, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
